At our first meeting of the school year, the School Board began the FY27 budget conversation. Projections show ACPS will need at least $19.3 million in additional revenue to sustain current services, covering staff pay, healthcare costs, and inflation. Through “Funding Our Future” community sessions, we are breaking down what drives these costs, why it matters, and how families can engage in the process.

On September 11, the School Board held a work session to review the City Manager’s proposal to shift some high school transportation from yellow buses to DASH. ACPS staff presented a fiscal impact analysis, and Board members discussed the potential benefits, risks, and unanswered questions. At the heart of the conversation is whether DASH should remain a voluntary option or become a requirement, and what that would mean for students, families, and staff.
