A new home for ACPS School Board updates

If you’ve been following my School Board posts this fall, you know I’ve been hinting at something new. It’s here.

acpsschoolboard.com is now live.

We built this site after hearing the same thing again and again during redistricting:

People want context. Not just the final vote, but how we got there.

When decisions span multiple meetings, maps, and data sets, it helps to have a single shared place where everything lives.

So the Board agreed to create a Board-managed, centralized site where you can find:

  • What the Board decided

  • Why it matters

  • How we got there

  • What comes next

I’ll still post here on my personal site from time to time. That’s where you’ll find my own reflections, clarifications, and occasional “let me explain this one more time” posts. But when it comes to the official Board context, the new site is where it will live going forward.

Beyond ACPS

When I’m not in a School Board meeting, at a kid’s sporting event, attempting to be home, or writing here, I’m usually over at Share My Lesson, where I do most of my national education work.

Some of it is serious.

Some of it is nerdy.

Some of it is…6 - 7.

My post 67 Things You Can Do About the 6-7 Meme (Instead of Losing Your Mind) somehow became the most-read Share My Lesson blog of 2025, which feels extremely on-brand for 2025 (where it should remain).

I also co-host AI Educator Brain, a monthly webinar series about what AI actually means for teaching and work. No hype. No tech-bro nonsense. Just practical, real-world stuff.

And I produce Vital Lessons with Dr. Vin Gupta, which focuses on clear, trustworthy health information for educators and families when the news cycle is doing cartwheels.

If any of that sounds useful, you’re always welcome to join. It’s all free and designed for real people with full calendars.

Take a look

We hope the new ACPS School Board site makes Board work easier to follow and understand. If it’s helpful, please share it with anyone who likes having all the pieces in one place.

A couple of thank yous

This site is a true partnership with my colleague Alex Scoiscia (District B). When I floated the idea of a new website, he jumped right in, and together we built it into something real. Alex and I are now co-editors of the site, and I am grateful for his collaboration and the energy he brought to making this happen.

I also want to thank my full School Board, who saw the value of creating a shared, Board-managed space and were willing to do something new. That meant approving a new policy to guide how the site works and to set clear guardrails around what we will and will not share. I appreciate the trust, the thoughtful discussion, and the commitment to making Board work easier to follow for our community.

Thanks for being part of this.
