We did it! Last night the voters spoke and elected me to serve on the School Board. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work on day one!
I am so full of gratitude for your support. This was a team effort and without your support, this would not have happened. It is an honor to serve Alexandria.
We have so much work to do for our students and I know the incoming School Board and City Council will work together to find common ground and do what’s best for our kids, schools and community.
But we can’t do this alone.
If there is anything I’ve learned from serving previously on the school board, it's that we have to talk to each other and we have to listen to each other, even when we disagree.
Collaboration and partnerships are key ingredients to a great school system and I look forward to working with you and everyone else to rebuild this partnership of trust and mutual respect.
I want to thank you for all your support and encouragement over this campaign. To all the volunteers, friends, and family who braved the rain to stand at the polls, knocked doors, wrote postcards, donated money, fed us, carpooled, watched our kids, provided comic relief, hosted meet and greets, emailed friends in support of this campaign - THANK YOU! We could not have won this election without you.
Finally, to my husband, Hendrick Booz, I could not do this without your support. Thank you for backing my call to service once again, despite knowing first-hand the sacrifice campaigning and elected office can have on a family. I love you.
